Could Spiders and done by Poly carbonate? what is the advantage and disadvantages for that?
in case of poly carbonate structural system what type of anchors we may use?

Dear Mr. Mohamed,
Mostly plastic material are replacing convential steel usage in those industries where lowering self weight/strength ratio is the main objective. In tensile properties, these materials are very strong but for example in young modulus E, these materials are not as strong as steel. Fiber reinforced concrete, where rebars of carbon, glass etc are used, provide very good tensile properties but these elements have higher deflections at ultimate limit stage especially in glass where E value is around 1/4th of steel. Economical aspect of these material is also another important factor.
Both in terms of mechanical properties and economical aspects steel is still prefered in construction industry.

poly carbonate materials is a petrochemical material from the same family of plastic but in high carbonate changing the chemical composition and therefore the physical properties, could be bullet proof, could be harder than steel and lighter than steel depend on its chemical composition, Airplane body made by poly carbonate, Standard Steel sections like I Beams, H Beam C channel, Plates .... etc for Construction could made by poly carbonate material.
so in term of load it is successful I am sure about that, but I do not know why it doesn't replace steel yet?

Dear Mr. Mohamed,
Poly carbonate is a plastic material and currently in spider and base plate design we don't have any test standard or european assessment document. Generally the material is either steel or aluminum. So, it is very diffccult to predict the behaviour in poly carbonate materials.

Dear Mr. Musman, yes I mean spider made of poly carbonate material instead of steel and also and all structural elements to be made of poly carbonate material instead of steel and or aluminum a well.
